decor notes | new horizons diaries

Home décor is one of my biggest passions in life but it's not one I get to indulge in often. I still live at home with my family so my flair for aesthetics is limited to my bedroom - in the real world at least. In the blessed world of Animal Crossing: New Horizons I have multiple rooms at my disposal!

Discovering new, key furniture items is one of my biggest joys and I love how a few days of playing around can create my favourite spaces both on Soy's landscape and in Luna's rooms. A few days ago I finished the office space, which took almost two weeks for me to pull together! I tried many different styles and key pieces until I popped a balloon and the perfect writing desk fell at my feet. But first! Allow me to introduce you to my new living space.

This room features colours and wood textures I wouldn't usually consider (I'm a cool-toned gal) but I absolutely fell in love with the Chic Wall and the room blossomed around it's colour scheme. The Light Parquet Flooring adds to the earthy vibe and I love how the different shapes within it add texture and interest. I kept a few furniture items from my last living room layout, including my beloved peach chair and customised lily record player, but have added new items like the retro stereo and a coffee table. I set up the sofa n chill area opposite the new kitchenette and I really like how the open doorways help separate the different zones.

As Luna's kitchen was revamped into a bath house I decided to add a few of the Ironwood kitchen pieces to the new living space. I customised them into Oak effect and I love how the white contrasts against the orange-toned wood. I decorated with a few small kitchen items including the pink weighing scales because I love adding pink to any room I can - it also helps tie in the peach chair and orchid mantis model!

This room!! It stood empty or half-filled for weeks. But now it stands as one of my favourite rooms in the house. The writing desk became the key item to making this room what I wanted it to be as the white-and-wood colour scheme built the rest of the room around it! The mom's apron adds a little creativity, as it could almost be a piece Luna had created herself on the mannequin. In my mind this is where Luna comes to write, read and make clothes when she's not out catching butterflies and watering her flower garden.

Outside of home décor, I've spent a lot of time terraforming these past few weeks. I'm slowly reworking my entire island and am working on small zones at a time to stop from being overwhelmed! I hate a messy, unfinished landscape. I've had a few little lightbulb moments lately that have completely transformed initial ideas and I'm living for it tbh. I may even create an AC:NH Instagram page to keep track of it all... watch this space ~
